The new Motorola one is now living in the marketplace. I can say it's a great phone but it's not the phone I was hoping for. Here's my full review of the Moto Droid one.
You would be hard-pressed to find a bigger phone than this. At first glance, you can't help but think that the device is almost an inch thick. On top of that, it's incredibly large - a few inches wider than a palm, nearly three times as thick. It's obvious that Motorola didn't want this thing to be smaller.
But, the detail on the phone makes it all the more amazing. The overall thickness makes the display feel incredible and it's really easy to read. Most people are going to be wondering how Motorola managed to cram such a huge screen into such a small device.
The body is made of plastic and metal. It's nice because it's thin but bulky in comparison to some other phones out there. I wouldn't call it ugly, but it does make it look a little bit larger than other phones.
The good news is that there are so many features packed into this phone. There are three cameras on the front, which is nice because they all come with flash. Then there's a microSD card slot, GPS, a full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and even a front-facing speaker.
The main problem that this phone has is the camera. It's just not that good. I don't think that there's much else to say about it. In general, the Moto Droid one seems to suffer from a hardware issue.
You may not be able to fix it but you can usually get it fixed for you by a third party. It's just unfortunate that the company is going to have to put the phone up for sale again in a few months. It may be interesting to see what the new Motorola phones have to offer and if you want a great phone, then you'll probably want to look at their upcoming products.
After using the Motorola Droid one, I don't think I'd buy another phone from Motorola. The Droid one is great, but it doesn't have anything to really set it apart from the competition.
